Subject: Very interesting!
Subject: Very interesting!
The reason that I was attracted to read this is because my grandmother was from Nova Scotia. I enjoyed reading this and I learned quite a few things in the process.
I have a friend that has family from Nova Scotia and with the same family name as ours although spelled slightly different. I had often wondered whether we were related somehow. I learned that perhaps we are not. Our family is Catholic, his family are Presbyterians and both groups did in fact arrive from Scotland but the Presbyterians arrived first and settled and then the Catholics. I was not aware of that. Another thing was that the Celts are often gifted with "Second Sight" I suppose that some might find that a bit out there but it makes perfect sense to me. Also I am not at all surprised to learn of the many superstitions and beliefs that were accepted by the Highlanders. Some were actually altered some and incorporated in to my childhood. Overall, without a doubt this was worth the read.
